Sport, Belonging and the Britain We Share: A Landmark National Conference Announced

We are pleased to announce a major national conference that will bring together leaders from across sport, health, government and community sectors to explore one of the most pressing questions facing modern Britain: how sport can help build belonging.

Titled “Sport, Belonging and the Britain We Share”, the conference will take place on Wednesday 9th September 2026, from 10:00am-4:00pm, at the iconic Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, convening voices from across the country for a day of dialogue, insight and collaboration.

At a time when conversations around identity, cohesion and inclusion are increasingly important, this conference positions sport as a powerful vehicle for social change.

The event will explore how physical activity and community sport can strengthen trust, foster inclusion and create shared experiences that unite diverse communities across Britain. It aims to go beyond theory—offering practical insight into how organisations and leaders can build more inclusive environments through sport.

The conference is expected to attract a wide range of attendees, including:

  • Senior leaders in sport and physical activity

  • Public health professionals

  • Policymakers and local government representatives

  • Community organisations and grassroots practitioners

By creating a cross-sector platform, the event will encourage collaboration and knowledge-sharing between those shaping policy and those delivering change on the ground.

We have long championed the role of sport in improving lives and strengthening communities. As a national charity, we focus on creating inclusive, culturally appropriate opportunities for physical activity—particularly for underserved communities. This conference represents a natural extension of that mission—moving from delivery to influence, and from programmes to national dialogue.

Sport, Belonging and the Britain We Share” is more than just a conference—it is a call to action.

Attendees will engage in meaningful discussions around:

  • Equity and access in sport

  • Representation and inclusion

  • The role of sport in shaping national identity

  • Practical strategies to build stronger, more connected communities

By bringing together diverse voices and experiences, the event aims to help shape a more inclusive sporting landscape—and, in turn, a more cohesive society.

We are inviting professionals, practitioners and changemakers from across the UK to be part of this important national moment.
