Role: Senior Participation Manager
Responsible to: Chief Executive Officer
Department: Participation and Engagement
Hours: Part-time – four days per week, days to be agreed
Rate: £150 per day
Location: Hybrid/home-based, with regular travel across England

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and relationship-focused Senior Participation Manager to join our team and help create more opportunities for Muslim communities across England to participate in sport and physical activity.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in MSF’s growing work to tackle inequalities and remove the barriers that prevent people from being active.

The Senior Participation Manager will lead our community participation and engagement activity, building trusted relationships between Muslim communities and the wider sport and physical activity sector.

Working closely with our Chief Executive Officer and Data and Insight function, the successful candidate will lead MSF’s engagement with mosques, madrasahs, Islamic centres and Muslim community organisations across England.

They will help strengthen connections between communities and organisations including Active Partnerships, national governing bodies of sport, local authorities, leisure providers and other partners.

Importantly, the role will focus on turning engagement into meaningful and sustained participation, creating pathways that enable more people to become and remain physically active.

The Senior Participation Manager will also develop relationships with UK-based charities, trusts, foundations and other funders, helping to secure investment and partnership support for initiatives benefiting Muslim communities.

We are looking for somebody with significant experience in community engagement, participation or development work, ideally within sport, physical activity, health or the voluntary and community sector.

Candidates should have a good working knowledge and understanding of the Islamic faith and Muslim communities, alongside experience of developing trusted relationships with faith and community leaders.

Strong communication, relationship management, influencing and negotiation skills will be important, as will the confidence to engage with everyone from grassroots community organisations to senior leaders, partners and funders.

The successful candidate will be professional, approachable, culturally aware and respectful, with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and partners.
