Support MCC’s 2025 Community Cricket Heroes Campaign

The Muslim Sports Foundation is proud to highlight the launch of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) 2025 Community Cricket Heroes campaign — a powerful initiative that celebrates individuals making a meaningful impact through grassroots cricket across the UK.

Now in its third year and run in partnership with The Cricketer magazine, this campaign has already honoured 22 remarkable contributors to community cricket. These unsung heroes were invited to the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground to experience a game from the prestigious MCC President’s Suite — a moment of recognition for their invaluable efforts.

MCC is once again calling on the public to nominate individuals who have gone above and beyond to support and grow the game at a community level — from committed volunteers and visionary coaches to resilient players who’ve overcome adversity. A special panel selected by MCC will identify 11 such individuals whose stories and service truly stand out.

Last year’s honourees included Heather Booth di Giovanni, celebrated for her transformative work with Bristol Afghans CC, and Tariq Aslam, a long-serving volunteer from Newham CC. Tariq’s decades of dedication to his club and community encapsulate the spirit of grassroots cricket we at MSF strive to nurture. His story, like many others, is a testament to the power of cricket to unite and uplift communities.

This year, selected Community Cricket Heroes will once again be welcomed as guests of MCC President Lord King to enjoy a match from the President’s Suite — with fixtures including England Women v India, England Men v South Africa, or a London Spirit match in The Hundred.

At MSF, we believe in the unifying potential of sport and are encouraged to see campaigns like this spotlighting the incredible individuals working at the heart of our communities. We encourage members of the Muslim community and beyond to submit nominations and ensure these local legends get the recognition they deserve.

📅 Nominations close at 23:59 BST on 4 June 2025.
