In December 2024, our Board had the opportunity to take part in a tailored Trustee training session delivered by the Sports Governance Academy (SGA) and the impact of that session is still being felt today.
Led by the brilliant Laura, the training was a valuable experience for everyone involved. Her approach was inclusive, engaging and down-to-earth, making complex governance principles easy to understand and apply. The session struck a great balance: educational and insightful, yet interactive and enjoyable.
At the time, feedback from Trustees was resoundingly positive. Many commented on how informative and thought-provoking they found the session, and how much clearer they felt about their roles and responsibilities. In the months since, it’s been clear that the training provided more than just a knowledge boost, it helped lay the foundations for stronger, more confident governance across our Board.
For us as a charity, it also shone a light on the role and importance of governance support, even if, in our case, the governance “team” is just one person!
We’re very grateful to the SGA and to Laura for her brilliant delivery and expertise. It’s clear the training helped to shape not just individual understanding, but our collective approach to good governance.
